CIVIL CASES

The Firm was involved in recent Landmark decisions of the Federal Court in the following cases:

Hap Seng Plantations (River Estates) Sdn Bhd v Excess Interpoint Sdn Bhd & Anor [2016] 3 MLJ 553 – on territorial jurisdiction of the High Court of Malaya and the High Court of Sabah and Sarawak; transfer of civil suit from High Court of Malaya at Kuala Lumpur to High Court of Sabah and Sarawak — Whether High Court of Malaya had jurisdiction to transfer proceedings to High Court of Sabah and Sarawak

Malayan Banking Bhd v Neway Development Sdn Bhd & Ors [2017] 5 MLJ 180

On whether a deed of trust is a ‘dealing’ within the meaning of section 4 of Sabah Land Ordinance and therefore is illegal under section 17(1) and 64(1) of the Sabah Land Ordinance where the subject matter is a native title

Masenang Sdn Bhd v Sabanilam Enterprise Sdn Bhd [2021] MLJU 1656 – on whether seat of arbitration would determine which High Court had exclusive supervisory jurisdiction over matters connected with the arbitration including enforcement or setting aside of arbitral award

CRIMINAL CASES

The Firm has successfully defended clients in various criminal cases involving drug trafficking offences under the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, and various offences under the Penal code, including murder and manslaughter, cheating, criminal breach of trust.
